Maersk Line to launch “Shaheen Express” connecting India, UAE and Saudi Arabia

Starting from the end of November 2022, Maersk will launch a new ocean shipping service named “Shaheen Express”. This passageway of ships will be rotated between Mundra, Pipavav, Jebel Ali, Dammam and Jebel Ali, creating a safe and reliable ocean service that is dependent on the Indian-UAE-Saudi Arabia corridor. The new service was primarily designed to target the growing demand for customers who trade between India and the Gulf markets.

“We have achieved some stability in the markets… So we have gone ahead and started identifying requirements for future services.” Bhavan Vempati, Head of Regional Ocean Management at Maersk.

We were able to make a more meaningful forecast around the increasing demand by talking with our customers. We proactively deployed a new service that is intended to provide an increased supply of space for this demand.

India’s trade with the United Arab Emirates is expected to continue to soar, thanks to the country’s recent Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with India. The main commodities moving between these countries, which illustrate their increased capacity, would be FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), such as electronics and perishables such as foodstuffs, retail goods including textiles and apparel, and chemicals. Electronics are a key focus of the deal since Saudi Arabia will benefit from a new direct service from Chennai.

In a recent announcement, Maersk Line delivered on their promise to make new transit times predictability between Indian ports and in Gulf ports better with their new services.

Bhavan Vempati, Founder of Bhavin and Associates, LLP, has released a statement saying that they are committed to providing reliable service to their customers in the Middle East. They will continue building partnerships with their existing customers and designing solutions that create value for them.

The two vessels will carry 1,700 containers at the rate of one per hour.
