Stena and Oljola Are Excited to Announce the Joint Production of a Dedicated Methanol Bunker Vessel
Stena Oil and Stena Tejnik are teaming up to construct a 2000 dwt chemical tanker in Turkey. It is designed to meet requirements for bunkering methanol, and is targeted to serve the Northern European region.
OljOla is the owner and is responsible for all technical aspects of the project. Stena Oil will operate through its commercial arm, Stena Tejnik, which will assume responsibility for all building and management activities.
The vessel is being designed by Kuzey and it will be built in Tuzla, Turkey. The shipbuilding process itself is being carried out by GENKA Shipbuilding. The design should conform to the IMO Type II standard, providing a fuel supply that includes methanol and biofuels.
A cargo capacity of 2100 cubic meters is possible with this vessel. Cargo will be stored in coated cargo tanks, located inside the hull. There are two slop tanks and 10 cargo tanks to help provide safety and security.
The new vessel is the fourth member of Stena Oil and OljOla’s bunker fleet, which are designed with sustainability in mind. This new ship will be equipped with two main engines and three diesel generators, all of which meet Tier III compliance.
